You deserve a space where you feel truly heard; not managed, not rushed, and not reduced to a diagnosis.
I’m Dr. Gozde Gokozan, a licensed psychotherapist, LMFT, LPCC, and founder of Therapia Psychotherapy Group in Beverly Hills and Los Angeles. With over a decade of clinical experience in the Los Angeles mental health community, I work with adults, couples, children, teens, and families — in person and via telehealth across California — as they navigate some of life’s most painful and complex experiences.
My approach draws on EMDR therapy, psychodynamic psychotherapy, attachment-based work, and trauma-informed care. Whether you’re carrying the weight of a difficult childhood, facing a life-altering health diagnosis, struggling in your relationship, parenting through a difficult season, or simply feeling like you’ve lost yourself — I help you understand what is underneath and move forward with greater clarity, connection, and self-trust.
I have a particular focus on trauma, complex childhood trauma, cancer-related emotional distress, women’s mental health, perimenopause, menopause, forced menopause, maternal mental health, burnout, chronic pain, autoimmune disorders, unexplained chronic illness, and the mind-body connection. I also work extensively with couples, parents, and individuals navigating grief, relationship struggles, attachment wounds, and major life transitions.
I support clients through every step of the cancer treatment journey and beyond — from the emotional shock of diagnosis, treatment-related stress, and medical trauma to survivorship, recurrence fears, body image changes, grief, uncertainty, and rebuilding life after treatment. I also help clients explore repressed emotions, unresolved trauma, chronic stress, and nervous system dysregulation that may be connected to emotional suffering, chronic pain, autoimmune conditions, and unexplained physical symptoms.
In addition to individual therapy, I offer parenting sessions to help parents better understand their child’s emotional world, strengthen attachment, reduce power struggles, and respond with more confidence and attunement. I also work closely with my associates as a collaborative clinical team to provide thoughtful, comprehensive, and coordinated care for clients.
I completed my doctorate in Applied Clinical Psychology at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology, with doctoral research focused on maternal attachment styles, breastfeeding preferences, early attachment experiences, and postpartum emotional health. I also hold advanced training from NYU in Child and Family Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy, an MS in Applied Child Psychology from Kingston University in London, and an MA in Clinical Psychology from Pepperdine University.
I believe every person deserves a mental health check-up — not only when things fall apart, but as a regular, proactive part of caring for yourself. In that spirit, I also offer mental health consultations for independent schools, corporations, educators, and organizations, particularly during Mental Health Awareness Month and wellness initiatives.
I am multilingual and multicultural, providing therapy in English and Turkish, and bringing a culturally sensitive lens shaped by living in the United States, England, and Turkey.
